Mares targeting top Bantamweights

"2012 is turning out to be a wonderful year for Espinoza boxing," stated well known manager, Frank Espinoza, after watching Antonio Orozco (15-0, 11 KO's) score a resounding stoppage over Alberto Cruz at the Fantasy Springs Casino this weekend.

Espinoza's stable which includes super bantamweight champion, Abner Mares, as well as several other undefeated prospects, has gone 15 and 0 for the year.

"I'm very proud of our fighters and I'm very high on Antonio Orozco," stated Espinoza. "I think he has unbelievable potential."

Espinoza will now focus on securing a fight for Mares who's looking to put his world title at stake against Jorge Arce next. "Our promoters are on board to pursue the bout. The next step is to make it happen," said Espinoza. "We're interested in making fights against the most intriguing opponents available like Nonito Donaire, Wilfredo Vazquez and Rafael Marquez. As long as it makes business sense, were happy to take on any of them."

Normally it would be a difficult fight to make since Mares is with Golden Boy Promotions and Arce with Top Rank. "Golden Boy understands Abner wants big fights," says Espinoza. "And they're very supportive of him pursuing those fights and that says a lot about them."

If that's not enough, Espinoza must direct the careers of Daniel Ponce De Leon, Luis Ramos, Ronny Rios, Carlos Molina, Abraham Lopez and newly signed, former amateur star, Joet Gonzalez. "Being a boxing manager is not easy by any means," says Espinoza who's managed the career of six world champions. "It's a passion for me and something I'll keep doing the rest of my life. I love it. There's nothing like it."
